Dec. 06, 2023 — Addison Karsak, who goes by Addi, encourages Shockers to get involved with the campus community and to make sure to seek advice when they feel they are struggling. She will receive her Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Science with a minor in Health Management and hopes to continue her education by getting her Doctor of Chiropractic after graduating.

Dec. 06, 2023 — Gabriela Malache, who goes by Gaby, is a Wichita native graduating with her BA in exercise science. She found it difficult to adapt to a fully online learning environment, but she took every advantage to step out of her comfort zone when she got back to campus, which she says other students should do as well.

Dec. 05, 2023 — Joe Mazzara is a GSA serving as the assistant director of Wichita State Esports, an opportunity that initially drew him to WSU. He was also a featured guest on the September 2023 episode of President Rick Muma's "Forward Together" podcast. After graduating with his master’s degree, he plans to pursue additional education by pursuing his doctorate.

Nov. 6, 2023 — Wichita State University is home to nearly 5,000 first-generation students, individuals whose caregivers weren't able to complete a college degree and who lack the firsthand experience to tackle college life. To help with their transition, Wichita State offers a number of resources to first-gen students to support them during their time in college, including F1RST GEN SHOCKERS.

Oct. 25, 2023 — Wichita State University is hosting the annual Expanding Your Horizons Workshop, a one-day event from 8 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 that introduces middle school girls to a variety of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) areas.

Oct. 25, 2023 - Wichita State’s Rudd Scholars work with youngsters in the “Bright Lights Educational Enrichment Program” at the Leslie Rudd Learning Center at League 42’s McAdams Park baseball complex. Each afternoon, several of them work on math skills with students in fifth through eighth grade and literacy with students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

Oct. 19, 2023 — The Association of University Research Parks (AURP) has awarded Wichita State’s Innovation Campus with the 2023 Emerging Research Park Award at its annual international conference held this week.

Oct. 9, 2023 — The Wichita State University Math Circle pairs pre-college students with mathematics professionals from WSU to understand and work with interesting problems and topics in math at weekly workshops.

Oct. 4, 2023 — Wichita State University has announced the creation of the WSU Retiree Association (WSURA), aimed at providing new paths for Shocker faculty and staff retirees to continue active engagement with the university. The new association adds to the existing array of perks available to retirees.

Sept. 28, 2023 — Kansas home values will continue to appreciate in the coming year, according to the 2024 Kansas Housing Markets Forecast series published by the Wichita State University Center for Real Estate.

Sept. 26, 2023 - Kian Williams, a junior at Wichita State University, is helping the Kansas Aviation Museum chart its future. The work researching aviation connects with the background that shaped a love for history. Williams volunteered at the Reno County Museum as a youngster.

Sept. 18, 2023 — The community will soon have a new restaurant to choose from when Two Hands Corn Dogs opens on Wichita State University’s campus Friday, Sept. 22.

Sept. 11, 2023 — Wichita State University is holding a parade next month and is inviting anyone in the community to join in. Starting at 6 p.m. Oct. 6 on the WSU campus, the parade is part of the university’s annual Shocktoberfest celebration.

Aug. 15, 2023 - Hannah Bui is now prepared to work with French-speaking colleagues at Airbus, thanks to “Business French for Beginners” taught by Wichita State University lecturer Rachelle Swilley. Bui, a static stress engineer at Airbus, was one of about 15 employees who took the six-week course, taught for two hours each Friday, this summer at Airbus on WSU’s Innovation Campus.

Aug. 14, 2023 — Wichita State Dining is going high tech with the rollout of robotic food delivery on campus, thanks to a partnership with Starship Technologies.
